TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hasto Kristiyanto, Joko “Jokowi” Widodo – Ma’ruf Amin campaign team secretary, said that his president and vice president hopefuls are optimistic in facing the inaugural presidential election debate that will highlight human rights issues, corruption, and terrorism.
“Pak Jokowi and Ma’ruf Amin are caring figures. Figures that have never ever slapped any other person,” said Hasto on Sunday, December 30. The debate will be held on January 17, 2019.
Meanwhile, the campaign team’s deputy chairman Abdul Kadir Karding said that Jokowi is really determined to completely resolve past cases of human rights violations. He claims that it was driven by the fact that Jokowi has no past related to human rights violations.
Karding said that the Jokowi – Jusuf Kalla administration had been hospitable and far from any human rights violations if seen from a broad perspective. The debate on January 17, 2019, will be aired on several national TV stations; TVRI, Kompas TV, and Rajawali TV (RTV), and through the RRI radio broadcast.
However, Mohammad Choirul Anam from the National Commission for Human Rights (Komnas HAM) once said that the resolution of human rights violation cases under the Jokowi administration often stops at the level that involves the presidential command.
