TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The tourism atmosphere in tsunami-stricken districts Pandeglang, Serang, and Banten has become temporarily non-existent after its main tourist spots took a huge blow by Saturday’s tsunami that severely affected beaches such as Anyer, Carita, and Tanjung Lesung.
Head of Banten Tourism Agency Eneng Nurcahyati said on Thursday said that the tourist spots in the region have been severely affected with no activities, currently. The damages left by the tsunami could be seen along the coastlines in Pandeglang and Serang.
“It had a severe effect considering that we have entered the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, as well as school holidays,” said Eneng.
Eneng could not confirm the exact amount of financial losses endured by the regions but assured that the tsunami has not completely killed-off tourism in Banten Province since there are still places to visit in Tangerang and Lebak District.
