TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Jasa Marga Jakarta - Cikampek branch noted 172,000 vehicles have left Jakarta and its surroundings through the Cikarang Utama Toll Gate (GT) for the two days of the 2018 Christmas holiday. The number increased 46 percent compared to normal volume of 117,669 vehicles.
The spokesperson for PT Jasa Marga Jakarta-Cikampek branch, Hendra Damanik, said the number of vehicles heading to Cikampek with destinations for Bandung and Cirebon was recorded since Friday, December 21, or the first day of the Christmas holiday wave.
“We predict that around 60,835 vehicles will still leave Jakarta through GT Cikarang Utama on the D-2 Christmas,” Hendra said in Bekasi on Sunday, December 23.
According to Hendra, the number of vehicles distributed on the homecoming route to the North Line (via GT Palimanan and GT Cikampek) is 54.9 percent. Whereas for vehicles heading towards the Southern Line (via GT Sadang and GT Cileunyi) is 45.1 percent.
Jasa Marga appealed to road users to ensure the adequacy of electronic money balances before entering the toll road, especially for road users who will make long trips through the Trans Java Toll Road.
Based on Tempo’s observation at 12:25 pm, through the communication center of the Jakarta - Cikampek Toll Road in East Bekasi, the situation of traffic flow from the Cikunir interchange to kilometer 35 was observed to be smooth.
The density of the Christmas holiday traffic flow this time tends to occur since at kilometer 35 because there are toll elevated works. Therefore, the 12-kilometer contraflow system is implemented.
