TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Celebrating Mother"s Day on December 22, President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo conveys his salutes for all mothers and women in Indonesia.
"Happy mother's day on December 22," said Jokowi as quoted from a written statement dated Saturday, December 22, 2018.
The President especially expresses his respect to all women who contribute to maintaining the unity and diversity of the nation. According to him, such women are able to raise the spirit of nationalism.
"For mothers and women who amazingly strive to raise the nationalism spirit and fight for justice for women and the community," Jokowi underlined.
In Indonesia, mother's day is commemorated annually every December 22 and is set as a national day. President Soekarno inaugurated the date back in 1959, referring to the first ever held Indonesian Women Congress.
