22,000 Buses Prohibited to Operate for Year-end Holiday

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Directorate General of Land Transportation continues to ramp check the vehicles ahead of the year-end holiday, namely 2019 Christmas and New Year holidays.
The Director-General of Land Transportation Budi Setiyadi said based on the ramp check toward 29,093 land transportation vehicles, his team still found violations.
“They are both administrative and major technical violations,” Budi said in a written statement received by Tempo, Thursday, December 20.
Minister Budi said, of the 29,093 public transport and tourism vehicles, 22,703 vehicles were allowed to operate, while the remaining 6,388 vehicles were prohibited from operating. “We will impose administrative sanctions up to revocation of operational licenses,” he said.
The minister added, the ramp check conducted at Lubuk Pakam Terminal, Deli Serdang Regency, on Wednesday night, December 19, saw that 8 bus crew members are positive for using drugs.
“We handed over this case to the law enforcement officials and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN),” he said.
