TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested nine people in a sting operation (OTT) at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora).
“So far we have arrested 9 people and then taken to the KPK office for further clarification,” said KPK chairman Agus Rahardjo, Tuesday, December 18.
Agus said the nine people consisted of officials at the level of Deputy Minister, commitment-making officials and administrators of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI). They were arrested after the KPK was informed that there would be a money receipt transaction by state officials in Kemenpora.
KPK, Agus said, then checked and found the initial evidence of Rp300 million and an ATM card containing hundreds of millions of rupiah.
“It is suspected that a transaction (kickback) occurred, related to the disbursement of grant funds from Kemenpora to KONI,” said Agus.
The sting operation was known by the Minister Imam Nahrawi. But he claimed that the information was not clear. According to him, one deputy-level official mentioned by the KPK was Mulyana, Deputy IV in the field of Sports Achievements Improvement. Mulyana was a lecturer at the Jakarta State University (UNJ), before being appointed by Imam Nahrawi in November last year.
