5 Uniqueness in Sikasur Savannah

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Baderan village, Sumbermalang, Situbondo, East Java, on Monday night, December 17, held an event by inviting a number of singers, one of which was Citra Scholastika, with a stage named JazZavanna Sikasur.

The event was held to introduce the Sikasur savannah tourist attraction, which is on the slopes of Mount Argopuro, and to welcome the year of tourist visit in 2019.

For mountain climbers, this Sikasur savannah path is a familiar place. Located on the slopes of Mount Argopuro or known as the Yang Plateau Wildlife Reserve, this unique savannah is the longest hiking trail on the island of Java.

To introduce this savannah area, the local administration also facilitates access to mountainous natural attractions and in the Rengganis Site, the facilities and infrastructures have also built. Here are the unique spots of the Sikasur savannah.

1. Located between Argopuro and Rengganis Peak

Sikasur savannah is located between Mount Hyan or better known as Argopuro and Rengganis Peak, precisely located in Baderan Village, Sumbermalang District, about 18 kilometers south of Besuki. The area reaches 70 hectares. Located at an altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level.

2. Lake Sitanjung

When visiting Sikasur savannah, tourists will also find the exotic Lake Sitanjung. Usually, here can also be found deer that come to drink.

3. Camping

Sikasur savannah is usually a place to camp by climbers before climbing. For tourists, of course, do not miss to enjoy the natural atmosphere while staying at Sikasur savannah.

4. Vintage airfield

In this savannah, there is an airfield that is no longer operational. It was built in the 1940s by AJM Ledeboer as part of deer cultivation activities imported from overseas.

5. Gladiolus wildflowers

When you come here during the rainy season, you can find colorful gladiolus flowers in this savannah.

Usually, these wildflowers bloom from January to April. Between grasses in Sikasur savannah, these flowers have its own beauty. It originally came from South Africa, seen in white, pink and yellowish.
