Planes Deemed Safe to Operate During Christmas, New Year

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Transportation Ministry’s Directorate General of Air Transportation assured that the ramp checks done on all of the airplane fleets in a number of airports show positive results and are deemed safe to operate for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Director General of Air Transportation Polana Pramesti, in a written statement, said that the safety status for the numerous carrier fleets that were checked will be effective from December 15 to January 10, 2019.
“The flight inspector had inspected 191 aircraft from December 15 to December 17 by scrutinizing 153 aircraft registrations,” said Polana.
The ramp checks were done on multiple carriers in airports consisting of; Soekarno Hatta Airport, Halim Perdanakusuma, Husein Sastranegara Bandung Airport, Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport in Balikpapan, Manado’s Sam Ratulangi Airport, Sultan Mahmud Badaruddim Airport in Palembang, and Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar.
The aircraft manufactures that were ramp checked include fleets from Boeing’s 737 lineup and Airbus A320 fleets. The ramp checks only revealed several minor findings that the ministry assured has been solved by each carrier that operate during this year’s Christmas and New Year holiday season.
