Ojek Driver Wins Bukalapak Mini Cooper Grandprize

15 December 2018 18:09 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Dedi Heryadi, an online motorcycle taxi driver (ojek) from Ciamis, West Java, was reportedly chosen as the winner of Bukalapak's grand prize during the national online shopping day (Harbolnas). Dedi wins a Mini Cooper which he purchased with a price of IDR 12,000.

"I immediately called my wife in Ciamis informing her that I won a Mini Cooper car sold at the price of IDR 12,000 from Bukalapak," said Dedi when Tempo met him at his usual gathering spot in the area of Bintaro.

Back at his hometown, Dedi's wife lives with three of their children while he works fulltime as a motorcycle taxi driver in Jakarta.

"I was contacted by Bukalapak and I was asked to be present at their headquarters on Monday, December 17, 2018. I still don't know what the car looks like since I haven't seen it physically," said Dedi.

Dedi’s fortune came after he participated in the promotion offered by online shopping platform Bukalapak in commemorating the Harbolnas. Without further thought, Dedi took part in the program's lucky draw with the Mini Cooper as its grand prize.

Dedi as the winner of the lucky draw was announced by celebrity Olla Ramlan through Bukalapak's Instagram account, which enables him to purchase the car for a mere IDR 12,000. Based on the images that were shown in the promo's advertisements, the grand prize is a Mini Cooper Countryman with normal price of IDR 700 million.
