TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - The Hajj Fund Management Agency (BPKH) expects to manage some Rp121 trillion in hajj funds in 2019—up by Rp11 trillion from 2018.
The estimate is based on the higher financial abilities of the country’s Muslims to embark on the annual hajj pilgrimage.
“We are managing Rp110 trillion this year. Next year we will have Rp11 trillion more due to the increased abilities of Indonesian Muslims to go for hajj pilgrimage,” BPKH head Anggito Abimanyu said during the 2018 Indonesian Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) organized by Bank Indonesia in Surabaya on Friday, December 14, 2015.

To December 2018, BPKH has managed some Rp110 trillion in hajj funds. Anggito said 50 percent of the figure was saved in the deposit bank of hajj travel expenses (BPS-BPIH) and the rest in state sharia securities (SBSN) and state and corporate bonds.
Anggito explained the investment scheme would alter next year. He said BPKH aimed at slashing the amount of funds invested in bonds by 30 percent, and 20 percent would be invested in hajj affairs, both domestic and international ones. The remaining 50 percent, meanwhile, would remain in the BPS-BPIH, he said.
