TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police arrested Depi (35), the last suspect of a group assault on two TNI members in Cibubur, East Jakarta. The assault, which happened on Monday, December 10, triggered a mass rampage that led to hundreds of people damaging and burning the Ciracas Police Precinct Station from Tuesday night until Wednesday morning.

"We have arrested him," Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Prabowo Argo Yuwono said on Friday, Dec. 14.

Depi arrested by a team led by Adj. Comr. Resa F. Marassabessy. The police apprehended him at a fast food restaurant in Cawang, East Jakarta on Thursday night. He is the fifth suspect of the group assault.

Two other suspects Agus Pryantara (AP) and Herianto Panjaitan (28) were arrested on Wednesday. Suci Ramdani (23) and her husband Iwan Hutapea (31) were arrested on Thursday.

Depi is one of the unregistered parking men who ganged up and beat Sea Capt. Komarudin and Private Rivonanda at the parking lot of Arundina shopping arcade in Cibubur.

The assault began in the parking lot when Komarudin's head was hit by a handlebar of one of the motorcycles Herianto was organizing. Their argument escalated into a fight and Komarudin was surrounded by other parking attendants who assaulted him. First officer Rivonanda tried to break up the fight but ended up being beaten up as well.

The TNI officers ran to a barrack of the presidential guards in Cibubur. In the afternoon, several TNI members came to the location look for the men who beat up their fellow soldiers. Mobs started to gather and eventually, the protest ended up in vandalism and burning of the Ciracas Police Station.
