TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tangerang General Hospital (RSUD), which treats the victims of the tragic fire that broke out at a prison in Tangerang last week, announced on Monday another casualty who died after sustaining 40 percent burn.
The penitentiary suddenly caught fire early Wednesday dawn. Police are currently investigating the incident that killed dozens of inmates and are questioning 22 people related to the incident. Investigators suspect negligence is involved.
Tangerang RSUD spokesperson Hilwani said the death of the person identified as “Mr. T” had been reported to penitentiary management but was unable to contact the victim’s relatives.
Mr. T is a 50 year old male inmate who sustained recipetory trauma and is the fifth patient out of ten who died at the penitentiary. This adds to the total tally to 46 deaths with 41 of them dying at the scene and 5 while undergoing treatment.
The general hospital is currently treating 10 burn victims from the Tangerang Penitentiary fire with six of them sustaining severe burns.
