TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Around 40 relatives to the victims of the Lion Air flight JT 610 accident gathered at the Hotel Ibis, East Jakarta, demanding that Lion Air be responsible and provide an explanation for the 64 victims that have yet been recovered and identified.
Victims’ families are reportedly enraged by Lion Air’s lack of information regarding the recovery process, which made them speculate that it is no longer being conducted.
“The KNKT (National Transportation Safety Committee) reported that they had only recovered 30 percent remains belonging to the JT-610, this has led victims’ families to believe that there are still bodies swept together with the unrecovered plane remains,” said Latief Nurbana, a relative to one of the victims in the ill-fated flight.

According to Latief, Lion Air had not provided updated information after the national search and rescue agency (Basarnas) Chief Muhammad Syaugi announced the end of the official government evacuation on November 10.
Latief further said victims’ families were met with Lion Air Operational Director Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi, however, the statement provided by Daniel did not satisfy their demands as it was reciting the same promise as before and mentioned that families would request the government to be involved if necessary.
