Jokowi: One Map Policy was Held Back by People Who Feared It

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - After introducing the Geoportal one map policy today, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo explained that Indonesia had only recently adopted this policy because many people tried to suppress the idea. He claims that this policy has caused fear among certain groups of people.
“This is why the one map policy had only been realized recently because there were many interests hampering it, many were afraid of this policy. But I was not, so I ordered the program’s initiation for the past two years,” said Jokowi.
The president expects the country’s national development would be better planned by adopting this policy. Other than that, this policy will crucially uncover the owners of lands and concessions across Indonesia.
“As an illustration, we will be able to know the pieces of land owned by Minister Sri Mulyani. The House of Representatives’ speaker’s concessions will also be known,” the President added.
President Jokowi inaugurated the Geoportal one map policy and the national infrastructure development book at the Bidakara Hotel today, which also addresses the national issue on overlapping uses of land.
