Mandiri Senggigi Sunset Jazz to be Held to Boost Lombok Tourism

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mandiri Senggigi Sunset Jazz will take place in Senggigi Beach, West Lombok on Sunday, December 9, 2018. The event, which is held for free, aims as a trauma healing for local people and support the tourism sector in the region.

Series of devastating earthquakes that struck Lombok for a month starting July 29-August 19 caused massive damages. The tourism sector in Lombok drops following the deadly disaster. Thus, Lombok now strives to rise.

West Lombok Regent Fauzan Khalid pinned hope the event will boost the business sector in the region.

According to the West Lombok administration spokesman, Saipul Akhkam, the organizer is currently decorating the site. “Since last night, Archiss (the promoter) has started to build the stage and main area,” he said.

National artists from across generations will perform in this event, such as Indra Lesmana with his daughter Eva Celia, RAN, Pusakata, Brigitta, Andien, and Vina Panduwinata. Besides, local artists including Lombok Blues Community, K-One, dan The Maiq Kane feat Suradipa will also present in the afternoon before sunset. 

Archiss CEO Nety Rusi said all performers are ready to enliven the show. Some of them have even arrived in Lombok today, Dec. 8. “They cannot wait to entertain Lombok people,” said Nuty Rusi Friday, Dec. 7, in the sideline of coordination meeting with West Lombok government in the Regent Office.

West Lombok Tourism Agency head Ispan Junaedi said the government invited Lombok Clean Community to clean up the area a day before and a day after the show. This event, she added, will be the peak show of the series of tourism events initiated by the regional administration, “after the disaster in August.”
