Natuna`s Alif Stone Park Receives National Geopark Certificate

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Alif Stone Park in Ranai, Natunda Regency, Riau Islands Province has been given a National Geopark status. The decision follows the issuance of a certificate from the Indonesian National Geopark Committee in Pongkor, Bogor, West Java, at the end of November.

Eno, the manager of the rock tourism area, stated that the inclusion of Natuna in the Indonesian geopark range would be an added value for local tourism.

"This is a momentum, there must be a follow-up so that the status becomes an added value for the tourism industry in Natuna," Eno said.

Eno also reminded everyone to unify their perception so that the National Geopark status could be upgraded to an international scale, making Alif Stone Park a World Geopark.

In addition to Natuna, Tourism Minister Arif Yahya also handed over the National Geopark status certificates to Silokek, Sianok Maninjau and Sawah Lunto in West Sumatra; Pongkor in West Java; Karangsambung, Karangbolong in Central Java; Banyuwangi in East Java, and Meratus in South Kalimantan.
