TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The military and the police have found 16 bodies of the victims who were killed during a shooting in Nduga, Papua. The victims` bodies will be evacuated today.
"We are now evacuating the bodies to Mbua," 172/PVY Military Resort Commander, Col. Binsar Sianipar, said in a press conference video Tempo received on Thursday, December 6.
Binsar said that the TNI also found three surviving members of its troops. The three TNI soldiers were also working at the PT Istaka Karya project in Nduga.
"We hope that more will be found during the evacuation process," he said.
On Monday, December 3, a group of armed men shot at workers who were building a bridge at Yigi River and Aurak River at Nduga Regency.
The West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB) led by Egianus Kogoya, the military wing of the Free Papua Movement (OPM), has claimed accountability that the murders were their work.
