TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) released data on ten areas prone to landslides in Jakarta due to the rainy season.
“Every month, we get the data (of areas prone to landslides) from volcanology and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources,” said Head of BPBD Jakarta Jupan Royter when contacted on Tuesday, December 4.
The ten points prone to landslide are located in East and South Jakarta. The type of landslide is divided into two, namely medium and high landslides. The following is a list of the 10 spots prone to landslide.

South Jakarta
Potential for medium to high landslides: Jagakarsa.
Potential for medium landslides: Kebayoran Lama, Kebayoran Baru, Mampang Prapatan, Cilandak, Pancoran, Pasar Minggu, and Pesanggrahan.
East Jakarta
Potential for medium to high landslides: Pasar Rebo
Potential for medium landslides: Kramatjati
“In the intermediate-zone, the ground movement can occur if the rainfall is above normal, especially in areas directly adjacent to river valleys, swamps, cliffs, roads or slopes,” said the @BPBD account in Jakarta, Tuesday, December 4.
In the mid-high zone, a previous ground movement will be reactivated if the high-intensity rain occurs. BPBD explained the ground movement occurs due to a disturbance in the balance of slope both naturally and due to human activities.
“We call on the people of Jakarta, especially [those reside in] the prone to landslides areas, to be aware of the potential for ground movement,” BPBD said via the Twitter account.
