TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The person in charge of the 212 Grand Reunion, Slamet Maarif, advised President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo not to attend the event to be held on Sunday, December 2.
“We suggest [President Jokowi] to not attend [the reunion event] for his own good. I suggest not to attend since the committee does not invite. We just ask for Pak Jokowi's prayer to us, so that our event will be successful, safe, and remains in the clean corridor,” said Slamet at D'consulate, Jakarta, Saturday, December 1.

Slamet stated that advise from the ulemas and instruction from the High Priest of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab was to cancel the invitation to Jokowi. So, the committee decided not to officially invite Jokowi with various considerations.
The committee, he went on, considered Jokowi disrespected the 212 movement; was not grateful for the blessings of Allah for the Muslims gathered in 212. They also still viewed that law enforcement and justice could not be implemented properly since the criminalization of ulema has not yet been resolved.
Slamet also said the committee wanted the event to take place solemnly. He was worried that if Jokowi attends, there would be many protocols that would disrupt the solemnity, adding that many who come tomorrow are disappointed with Jokowi’s policies.
The PA 212 chairman said the committee had also not sent written invitation to Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno.
