TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police are gearing up to mobilize 20,000 joint personnel to safeguard the upcoming 212 rally reunion that would take place in the National Monument (Monas) area, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, December 2.
“The joint personnel comprise those from the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police, and the Jakarta administration,” said Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono at his office today.
Argo, however, cannot yet predict the number of people participating in the event. “We are still compiling the data. We have not yet obtained the fixed number,” he said.

Event organizer Slamet Maarif, meanwhile, said the event would be held on Sunday from 03:00 and last to 12:00 in the Monas area. The organizer said the event would include mass prayers and other religious prayers.
The 212 movement was formed on December 2, 2016, which was later popular as the 212 rally, to demand the impeachment of then Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama for blasphemy against Islam. The former governor was found guilty by the court and jailed following public pressures.
