TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The rupiah has strengthened against the US dollar on the last day of November. According to Bank Indonesia`s (BI), the Jakarta Interbank Spot Dollar Rate (Jisdor) recorded the rupiah being traded for 14,339 per US dollar today.
The rate is up by 69 points compared to Thursday`s Rp14,408 per US dollar, with the greenback being sold for Rp14,480 and bought for 14,336.
The rupiah continues to stray away from the 15,000-per-dollar mark, which it first reached on October 3. The rupiah started gaining on November 2, rebounding to the 14,000-mark for the first time in a month.
Panin Sekuritas analyst William Hartanto projects the rupiah to keep its gain today, moving between 14,250 and 14,350 per US dollar.
William said one of the factors affecting the rupiah is the dovish statement by The Fed governor Jerome Powell, which created speculation that the US central bank would not be raising its benchmark interest rate to soon in 2019.
