Anies Baswedan Transforms Reclaimed Islands into Public Beach

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan implied that the city`s C, D, and G reclamation islands can be enjoyed by residents of Jakarta free of cost. The governor also tasked Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) to transform the islands into public beaches.
“Sunset and sunrise can be enjoyed here in the public beaches,” said Anies in City Hall, Central Jakarta yesterday, Nov. 26.

Jakpro was also instructed to construct an access road to the reclaimed islands that is hoped to be complete by year’s end. However, the fact that the islands currently consist of mainly reclaimed soil becomes a challenging task for the developer.
Anies further explained that the initial access road construction will not wait for Jakarta's Zoning Plan and Northern Coastal Territory (RZWP3K) to complete since the nature of the access road is simply to connect residents and the reclaimed islands.
Jakpro was appointed to manage the island that is mentioned in the Governor’s Decree No. 120/2018 ratified on November 16, 2018. Anies Baswedan’s decree states that Jakpro will be managing the trio islands’ contribution land for the next decade.
