TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency planned to implement the electronic road pricing (ERP) system for motorcycles. Following the implementation of the policy, motorcycles will be allowed to pass on roads subject to ERP scheme.
"In the bidding document, it is still stated. The two-wheeled vehicle is still a part of the evaluation," said Acting Head of Jakarta Transportation Agency Sigit Wijatmoko at the Legislative Council (DPRD) Jakarta Building on Wednesday, November 21, 2018.
Sigit said that currently the ERP system is being prepared by three companies. All of the companies have passed the pre-qualification stage and are currently in the auction stage.
In the near future, the three companies will follow the PoC (proof of concept) or technical evaluation of the concept they offered. The technical test would initially be held on November 14, 2018, but was later canceled.
The ERP machine will be installed in three locations on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat. During the trial period, the Jakarta Transportation Agency will involve 205 vehicles, ranging from cars, motorcycles, buses, and trucks.
However, the plan contradicted Governor Regulation No. 25 of 2017 on Motor Vehicle Restriction Through Electronic Paid Road System. In the regulation, motorcycles are prohibited to travel through ERP roads.
Sigit ensured that the regulation would no longer be implemented. Because, the Jakarta Provincial Administration is currently drafting a regional regulation on the paid road with the DPRD Jakarta, which is currently being included in the Regional Regulation Establishment Agency.
For the ERP tariff, Sigit said the motorcycle would be subject to different tariff from the car. The tariff will also be regulated in regional regulation.
"[The tarifff] will be different between two-wheeled with four-wheeled vehicles, it could be cheaper," Sigit said.
