TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team will end the process of identifying the Lion Air JT 610 victims on Friday after It has identified 101 of 189 passengers and crew.
“Currently, there are only 24 DNA profiles that we should match. So there are potential of unidentified passengers,” said the DVI Team Chief Senior Comm. Lisda Cancer on Monday, November 19.
According to Lisda, the Kramat Jati Police Hospital has issued death certificates for the families of victims who have been identified. For the unidentified victims, they will receive the death certificates given by Lion Air.
“Because the government has facilitated the families of victims to receive the death certificate immediately,” she said.
Lisda said that the main factor that caused the team not to be able to identify the victims was because the victim’s body parts were not found. For all body parts that sent to the Police Hospital, all DNA is known.
The Lion Air JT 610 plane crashed on October 29, in Tanjung Karawang waters and was shattered in pieces, almost no victim’s body was found intact.
