Police Thwart Ecstasy Smuggling from Malaysia

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Drugs Directorate a the Police`s Criminal Investigation Unit (Barerskrim) thwarted the smuggling of 6,731 ecstasy pills from Malaysia to Indonesia through Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng, Banten. Police arrested four suspects, two of them are Malaysian citizens, Nurasyqin and Nurul Nadia.

“Chin Sin and Yu Seng are Indonesian citizens,” said Bareskrim's Director of Drugs Criminal Brig. Gen. Eko Daniyanto through a written statement on Friday night, November 16.

Eko said, based on the data analysis, one of the suspects will depart to Indonesia on November 10 using Air Asia airline. From the findings, the authorities at Soekarno-Hatta Airport monitored the Arrival of Terminal 3.

The authorities arrested and examined the target Nurasyqin after he landed. Nurasyqin claimed to bring the ecstasy to Indonesia, "But it was brought by Nurul Nadia to Menara Peninsula Hotel, West Jakarta,” said Eko.

Based on the information, Eko and his team rushed to the Menara Peninsula Hotel and arrested Nurul Nadia. The police seized three plastic clips containing 1,879 ecstasy pills.

After further interrogation, Nurasyqin said that the drugs would be handed over to Chin Sin and Yu Seng. From the examination, the police seized 4,000 more ecstasy pills.
