TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The electric car made by Budi Luhur University in collaboration with Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya dubbed Blits would enter its trial stage starting Wednesday, November 14. The Blits would explore the country as far as 15,000 kilometers.
The car was claimed to use local components such as the body, chassis, velg, and battery management system.
“Some of the components used import materials, but the engineering process is carried out by both Budi Luhur University and ITS. We have done all the research and focus on the car’s body, chassis, and velg, which are the local part,” said Blits Project Team head-cum-lecturer of Technical Machine of ITS, Muh. Nur Yuniarto, in Jakarta, Monday, November 12.
Nur Yurianto said the battery management system was made by the team, yet the battery was from LG brand of China. “Based on our experience, this battery passes quality test and our team has checked it,” he added.
According to him, the machine part and its contents still used imported products, but the car’s chassis was made in the country. “Machine, transmission, and battery cells are imported, but we make the battery packaging ourselves,” Nur noted.
This collaboration, Nur continued, would be a way to transfer knowledge between ITS and Budi Luhur University. Thus, the network in the development of the electric car in Indonesia would be expanded since the more people took part in this sector, the quicker it would be developed.
