Participant of Jogja International Heritage Walk Increase

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of participants of Jogja International Heritage Walk (JIHW) increased significantly. This year's tour will be held on November 16-18.
The marketing head at the Yogyakarta Tourism Office, Imam Pratanadi, said on Monday, November 12, that the number of domestic participants reaches over 5,000 people, while the participants from overseas have reached 350 people.
Imam said the increase of participants was very positive for the development of the Yogyakarta tourism industry. This event also brings the repeater tourists, the tourists who have the potential to continue to attend this event every year.
“The biggest number we’ve ever achieved,” he said. In previous years, there were only around 200 foreign tourists.
The tourists from the countries that have never participated in the previous year, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and New Zealand, will attend this year.
The Jogja Walking Association Secretary General Fitriani Kuroda said the 2018 JIHW will present a series of sports activities with more unique and colorful heritage nuances.
With the theme 'Save Nature, Respect the Culture, Jogja to the World', this event will be opened with a Friendship Walk at the Kalangan Village, Turi, Sleman, on Friday 16 November. It will be followed by the inauguration of the 10-km Permanent Walk route of the Internationaler Volkssport Verband (IVV).
On November 17, the participants will be walking on the route of 5 km, 10 km and 20 km, with the start and finish point at the Brahmana Prambanan Yogya Temple Square.
On November 18, the participants will be invited to walk in the area of Pancoh Turi Sleman Tourism Village with a route of 5 km, 10 km and 20 km. On the third day, during the trip, the participants will find local fruits and taste the Etawa goat milk, as well as various kinds of local cultural attractions.
