S. Tangerang Police Fine 8,637 Violators During Operation Zebra

TEMPO.CO, South Tangerang - South Tangerang Traffic Police Unit fined 8,637 traffic violators throughout 14 days of the 2018 Operation Zebra.

“There are 2,790 students [violating the traffic] out of 8,637 violators,” said South Tangerang Traffic Police Chief Adj. Comr. Lalu Hedwin Hanggara on Monday, November 12.

According to Hedwin, The traffic violations that dominated this year’s police operation is mostly from motorcyclists, followed by four-wheel vehicles.

“Those motorcyclists mostly violate traffic signs, counter-flowing, and lack of vehicle documents, while most of the violators of the four-wheel vehicle are fined due to lack of vehicle document and not wearing a seatbelt,” Hedwin explained.

Hedwin said that based on the operation, the police found many violators in main roads. “Violations mostly occur on Jl. Raya Serpong, Jl. Ir. Juanda Ciputat, and Jl. Raya Legok. And the type of violations include driving equipment such as helmet,” he said.

The 2018 Operation Zebra commenced on Monday, October 29 until November 12, 2018. During 14 days operation, South Tangerang Police recorded as many as 5,741 violations from two-wheelers, 2,097 violations from four-wheelers, and 311 violations from goods vehicles.

Hedwin mentioned the data increased up to more than a thousand compared to the last year’s data. “And the figure may raise since today’s data has not yet reported to me,” said Hedwin on Monday, November 12.
