TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has deployed 1,400 verified volunteers to monitor information and anticipate flooding in the capital. The volunteers are also assigned to disseminate early warnings when flooding occurs.
“We verify information on flooding the first time we receive information about it, and we do not know about its validity,” said Anies in the City Hall today, November 12. “Thus, we recruit 1,400 verified people throughout Jakarta.”
Anies explained should the volunteers send a report, the Jakarta Smart City would not have to re-check the information. The government could directly respond to the information as it has been verified as non-hoax news.
