TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A GoJek driver Bambang Supriono Hadi Susilo was one of the many people who were lucky enough to attend and watch Guns N Roses` `Not in This Lifetime Tour` held at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Stadium on Thursday, November 8.
Bambang, aged 41, was always a fan of Guns N Roses ever since his Junior High School years and dreamt of one day watching his idols performing live. After years of expectation, his dream paid off on Thursday.
Driven by a life-long determination, Bambang was able to save money in three consecutive days after he was informed that his favorite band would be performing in Jakarta, however, it was not an easy task for the motorcycle-taxi driver to get the ticket.
“I worked hard for three days to collect the money [to purchase a ticket] by eyeing on the daily bonuses provided by GoJek, and managed to collect 30 points to collect Rp320,000 (around US$22) each day,” said Bambang on Friday, November 9.

After attaining his wife’s approval, he used the money he saved in those three days exclusively to watch the Guns N Roses concert, which is out of his daily income to provide for his wife and children. “I already gave my wife Rp1 million to provide the family for the next whole week,” said Bambang.
However, once he had the money to buy a ticket, he was faced with the fact that ticket prices had quickly surged uphill which was well above the money he saved, especially the ones sold by brokers. This was the moment he prepared to face the reality that he would not be able to watch his idols in person.
In a surprise twist that might only make sense in movie scenarios, Bambang was granted a free ticket by one of his passengers he transported on Thursday morning just hours before the concert started.
“As soon as I arrived at Palmerah Station, I took an order from Kak Titi. At first, I asked her help to find me a ticket within my budget,” Bambang recalled.
After dropping off Titi to her intended location, Bambang received a call from Titi who offered him an available concert ticket. “Then I asked Kak Titi, how much the ticket costs? However, she was silent for a while and then answered that the ticket was free,” Bambang recalled enthusiastically.
Through his Instagram account, he was awarded the front row ticket to watch Guns N Roses’ ‘Not in This Lifetime Tour’ which is Asia’s opening concert that lasted for three hours.
