TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) head Soerjanto Tjahjono said the downed Lion Air JT 610 had unreliable airspeed readings in the last four flights.

The four flights, Soerjanto said, included the crash in the waters of Tanjung Karawang on Monday, Oct 29. “There were unusual variations in the airspeed between the left and right side, captain side and co-pilot side,” said Soerjanto in KRI Banda Aceh in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 6.

Upon the findings, Soerjanto said the agency would examine the manufacturer of Boeing, technicians, and previous pilot for PK-LQP flight in a bid to explore the cause of the plane crash. The investigation, he added, was a small part of a series of checks made by KNKT.

“So we cannot make a quick conclusion [on the cause of the incident]. There are steps we must apply in the investigation, even a small odd we will explore it in great efforts,” Soerjanto explained.

According to Soerjanto, KNKT had examined crew and Lion Air’s technicians for investigation process. However, the agency could not release the investigation report based on the Law.

“We will publish anything related to the incident; not the report,” Soerjanto concluded.
