TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board or PBNU Said Aqil Siraj said he had read the idea that the caliphate or Islamic state should be established in Southeast Asia by 2024.
“Who wants the establishment of the caliphate in Southeast Asia? Yes, HTI (Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia). Who else?” Said said.
Said said, basically anyone who undermined the Pancasila and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia was the opponent of the nation. “The parties must be opposed,” he said.

The Muhammadiyah Central Executive General Chairman Haedar Nashir said Said Aqil’s statement regarding the idea of the caliphate in 2024 should be supervised together.
“The first method is through education. The second is to spread moderate understanding. The third is to create a more conducive situation in our national atmosphere,” Haedar said.
The PBNU and the Muhammadiyah Central Executive had confirmed the agreement to maintain the unity of Indonesian Muslims.
