Jokowi Urges Ministers Strengthen Passenger Safety Management

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo said every country had the low-cost carrier and so the top priority for this airline was the safety management of passenger.
“There is no country ever wants to face an airplane crash. Thus, I demand ministers strengthen the safety management of flight passengers,” said Jokowi today, Oct. 30, in JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.

The correlation between the budget-friendly flight and the assurance of passenger safety has again become public highlight following the crash of low-cost carrier Lion Air K- LQP with a tail number JT 610. The condition of all passengers and crews has yet known thus far.
Earlier, Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) said the government had no plan to evaluate the regulation on the low budget airline. According to Kalla, the existing policy was quite tight. “Business that has the most strict regulation is flight,” said JK in his office on Tuesday, Oct 30.

Upon the downed Lion Air JT 610, the vice president considered the safety of passenger still the main concern for the low-cost carrier as the airliner must fulfill the standard before the operation. Without such assurance on safety, the company would stop its flight service.
