TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The death execution of Tuti Tursilawati added the list of Indonesian migrant workers executed by the Saudi Arabia government. In the last 10 years, Migrant Care noted that there were six Indonesian migrant workers who were executed.

Migrant Care chairperson Anis Hidayah said that the executions were often carried out without prior notification to the Indonesian government. “The execution also often ignores the access to justice in the ongoing legal process,” she said, Wednesday, October 31.

The following are six migrant workers executed by the Saudi Arabia government:

1. Yanti Irianti

The worker from Cianjur, West Java was executed on January 11, 2008. She was shot dead on charges of murdering and robbing her employer’s property.

2. Ruyati

The woman from Bekasi, West Java, was beheaded for allegedly killing her employer on January 12, 2010. She was executed on June 18, 2011.

3. Siti Zaenab

Siti was beheaded on April 14, 2015. She was found guilty of murdering her employer’s wife in 1999. The worker from Bangkalan, East Java, was detained at the Madinah Public Prison since October 5, 1999.

4. Karni

Karni was beheaded for allegedly killing a four-year-old child, Tala Al Syihri, on September 26, 2012. The woman from Brebes, Central Java, was executed on April 16, 2015, after being imprisoned for 8 months. Karni was also sentenced to 200 lashes for attempted suicide.

5. Muhammad Zaini Misrin Arsad

Zaini was executed on charges of murdering his employer in 2004. The man from Bangkalan, East Java, was beheaded on March 18, 2018.

6. Tuti Tursilawati

Tuti was sentenced to death because she was accused of murdering his employer’s father, Suud Mulhak Al Utaibi in 2010.

Based on the information from her family, the killing was carried out as a form of self-defense because Tuti was often physically assaulted and even received rape threats. She was executed on September 29, 2018.
