Eyewitness Saw Parts of Lion Air Plane on Tanjung Karawang Waters

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Lion Air aircraft flying from Jakarta to Pangkal Pinang lost contact with air traffic controller this morning, October 29. Suryadi, a Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) operator at Tanjung Priok Port, said he and other men saw what they thought was parts of a plane that had plunged into waters.
"The AS Jaya II boat crew saw pieces that were assumed to be parts of a Lion Air aircfraft," he told Tempo on Monday, October 29.

Suryadi said the search and rescue team are heading to the location where the objects were seen.
On 06:33 this morning, a Lion Air aircraft with tail number JT-610 lost contact with air traffic controller after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport some ten minutes prior.
Air traffic lost contact with the plane when it was it was flying above Tanjung Karawang, West Java. There were reports that the AS JAYA II tug boat crew saw a plane plunging into the waters.
