TEMPO.CO, Mataram - The West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) provincial government in conjunction with the East Lombok administration has prepped Rinjani’s hills as the location to hold the extreme sport event Rinjani 100 K.
This was done considering that the original trail was damaged by the earthquake a while back.
“Rinjani 100 K enthusiasts will not lose the 100 kilometer terrain,” said East Lombok Regent Sukiman Azmy in Mataram yesterday.
Mount Rinjani’s hiking trail was damaged following the series of earthquakes that hit Lombok for a whole month, which was originally supposed to be used as a part of the Rinjani 100 K trail.
The hillsides that will be used as a replacement trail is based on the Rinjani National Park Hall, which predicts that Rinjani’s trail will be open once again for the public in 2020.
As previously reported, NTB’s National Sport Committee (KONI) Andy Hadianto expressed his concern following Mount Rinjani`s hiking trail that was ruined by the earthquake, despite more than 200 applicants from China who have registered for the event.
