Indonesia Triumphant at 2018 International Dragon Boat Race

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has retained its champion title at the 2018 International Dragon Boat Race (IDBR), which was held at Carang River, Tanjungpinang, Riau Islands.
In the competition, the Koarmada IA Team from Jakarta successfully secured the champion title for three consecutive years and was entitled to the Riau Islands Governor Cup as well as cash worth Rp50 million.
The 2018 IDBR was also participated by foreign teams, including Malaysia, Brunei and Singapore. According to Tanjungpinang Mayor Syahrul, this event was more festive than the previous year's. “I congratulate the winners,” Syahrul said in a press release received by Tempo.
The final round of the dragon boat race took place on Sunday, October 21. The Koarmada IA finished first with 02.39.18. The second position was occupied by the Koarmada IB with of 02.40.59. The teams from Malaysia and Batanghari Jambi I clocked 02.42.04 and 02.43.17, respectively.
“From the beginning to the end, the teams are very passionate and committed to giving their best,” said Koarmada IA coach, Capt. Russel Meicter Tambunan.
