TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The regional disaster mitigation agency (BPBD) of Bogor is in an alert state to disaster since high-intensity rain caused by extreme weather to occur in the region for the next three months.
“The greatest potential for disaster in Bogor is the landslide. Rain with high-intensity has the potential to cause the land to shift which lead to a landslide,” BPBD secretary Budi Pranowo.
BPBD has identified 15 sub-districts with high potential of landslide, including Sukaraja, Tamansari, Megamendung, Cisarua, Sukamakmur, and Cariu districts.

“The West Region of Bogor Regency is most likely to have landslides. Areas such as Cigudeg, Leuwiliang and Tamansari or locations that geographically are hills,” Budi closed.
Head of the Data and Information Center at the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of Bogor, Hadi Saputra, said extreme weather was caused by the impact of the transition from the dry season to the rainy season.
“Current rainfall includes extreme weather, accompanied by lightning and strong winds. These conditions will still occur until December 2018, for the peak of the rainy season is predicted to occur in January 2019,” said Hadi.
