TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Susi Pudjiastuti was furious at the statement made by vice president candidate Sandiaga Uno who said that Susi`s office had made a complicated mechanism of the fishing permit in Indramayu.

“I am mad [at this] and this has been reminded; not to bring up the fishery economy issue to politics,” the minister said at her office on Wednesday, October 17.

According to Susi, the permit -that is issued by the local government, is applied to the boats measuring 10-30 GT (gross tonnage), while her office issues permit for the large boats over 100 GT.

Meanwhile, the minister explained that the fishermen are those who have the boats under the 10 GT. She said that she had set the fishermen free from all permits.

Susi Pudjiastuti said that Sandiaga should do a lot of research before issuing a statement in public. “Don't talk carelessly,” said the minister.

Previously on October 10, Sandiaga visited Indramayu and met with the fishermen at the Karangsong fish auction. According to Sandiaga, the fishermen complained about the complicated administration in obtaining fishing permits.

“Prabowo-Sandi will not forget the services of the fishermen. I will cut down the bureaucracy process in obtaining [the fishing] permit,” said Sandiaga.
