Free Supermarket for Palu Earthquake Refugees in Balikpapan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The evacuation post of the Dhomber Balikpapan National Army (TNI) Air Force Base, which accommodated the Palu earthquake victims, has supermarket-style stalls.

“All the items provided at the supermarket-style stalls are free," said Karuops Captain Mulyono at Dhomber Airport in Balikpapan, Monday, October 15.

The stalls are divided into several tenants. Each tenant is guarded by the service. They are the Social Service and the Education Service. The relief items were provided by the community and private companies.

Balikpapan Education Service employee Kusniwati said the average refugee chose clothes for everyday wear. “Children’s clothes and pants in various sizes are also in demand,” she said.

The provision of the supermarket-style stalls was carried out starting on 2 October. On average, one person took 5 clothes. The tent is open 24 hours.
