TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi said the government planned to draft a law on sports system for people with disabilities in light of Indonesian athletes' achievements in the 2018 Asian Para Games.
According to Imam, the sports system for the disabled would be well-managed should Indonesia have the necessary law.
“We will start to discuss it in the House of Representatives (DPR), so the law on sports for the disabled can be passed next year. The article on the issue has actually been noted in the Law on National Sports System, but it is not specific,” Imam said.

“If the special law has been issued, hopefully, the sports management for the disabled will be more focused,” he added.
Indonesia has successfully ranked fifth in the 2018 Asian Para Games—Asia's largest sporting event for people with disabilities. Indonesia clinched 37 golds, 47 silvers, and 51 bronzes.
