3 Indonesian Athletes Break Asian Record in 2018 Asian Para Games

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia has bagged 89 medals in the 2018 Asian Para Games, including 23 gold medals, up to Thursday, October 11. In the athletics, national athletes earned six golds, 10 silvers, and 7 bronzes, and three of them succeeded to break the Asian records.
1. Rica Oktavia (in the women's long jump T20 category)
Rica Oktavia broke the Asian record in the women's long jump T20 category at 5.25 meters. The achievement bested the previous record owned by Malaysian athlete Siti Noor Radiah Ismail at 5.20 meters. In the match on Monday, October 8, Siti Noor Radiah Ismail obtained silver medal for jumping 5.18 meters.

2. Sapto Yogo Purnomo (in the men`s T37 100-meter run)
Indonesian sprinter Sapto Yogo Purnomo won gold medal Tuesday, October 9, in the men`s T37 100-meter run with 11.49 seconds that broke the Asian record of 11.51 seconds by the Chinese athlete Yongbin Lian.
Sapto became the champion after defeating Iranian athlete Davoudali Ghasemi with 11.97 seconds record and Saudi Arabian athlete Ali Alnakhli with the record of 12.01 seconds.
3. Karisma Evi Tiarani (in the women's T47 100-meter run)
Woman’s sprinter Karisma Evi Tiarani brought home the ninth gold after finished the race of the women's T47 100-meter run in 14.98 seconds, breaking Asian record gained by Kaede Maegawa with 16.74 seconds in Machida City Athletic Stadium, Japan in 2018. The Japanese athlete won a silver medal with 16.89 seconds at the 2018 Asian Para Games.
