Asian Para Games: Indonesian Chess Team Wins Six Gold Medals

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian national team won six gold medals at the 2018 Asian Para Games in the category of standard chess. The medals were handed over at the Cempaka Putih Sports Arena, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 9.
Indonesia won six gold, three silver and three bronze in the category of standard chess from a total of 12 gold medals.
The gold medals were collected by the men’s individual of VI-B1 (totally blind) class by Hendi Wirawan and in the women’s individual by Debi Ariesta, as well as in the women’s individual of PI (disabled) class by Simanja Nasip Farta. For the team's chess, the gold bagged by the men’s VI-B1, women’s VI-B1 and men’s PI.

The silver medals won by Tati Karhati in the women’s individual of VI-B1 class and Maksum Firdaus in the men’s individual of PI class and men’s team of PI class, while the bronze medals were bagged by Edy Suryanto in the men’s individual of VI-B1 class and PI class and in the men’s team.
Meanwhile, Iran managed to collect all medals in the women’s individual of the VI-B2/B3 class, while their men’s team won the gold. At the same class, the silver medal was taken by Vietnam, while India got the bronze.
In the men’s individual of the VI-B2/B3 class, the gold was bagged by Iran, and the silver and bronze were collected by the Philippines. In the VI-B2/B class, Iran won silver and Indonesia won bronze.
In the PI class of 2018 Asian Para Games' chess, Indonesia won silver and the Philippines bagged gold and bronze medals. For the men’s team of PI class, gold and silver medals were taken by the Philippines while Indonesia got the bronze.
In the women’s individual of the PI class, Indonesia bagged the gold and bronze, and India won silver. In the team's games, Indonesia won gold, Vietnam got silver and India bagged the bronze medal.
