Sriwijaya Air Explains Tire Burst Incident in Pontianak Airport

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sriwijaya Air airline management stated the tire of Sriwijaya SJ 186 Jakarta-Pontianak on Tuesday afternoon (Oct 9) burst while entering the apron from the runway in Supadio Airport; not during the landing.
“In fact, the aircraft has entered the apron,” said Hermawan, West Kalimantan District Manager Sriwijaya Air, Tuesday evening, October 9.
Hermawan assured there was no victim from the incident. All passengers comprised of 117 passengers and six crews in the aircraft were then dropped off and picked up using airport bus.
Jon Mukhtar Rita, General Manager of state-run airport operator Angkasa Pura II (AP II) for International Supadio Airport, Pontianak, said the tire bursting incident resulted in several flight delays for about an hour.
He mentioned two flights were forced to return to Jakarta and Batam, while three flight delayed for departure.
Earlier, West Kalimantan Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Nanang Purnomo said the tire bursting of Sriwijaya SJ 186 Jakarta-Pontianak occurred in the runway, “at around 12:30 p.m.” The aircraft had just landed at the runway. The second tire also ruptured while turning in the runway.
