TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo called for the country’s high school and vocational high school students to participate in preventing the spread of hoax or fake information by helping authenticate those misinformation.
“Children, give me a favor, if you witness slanders, hoaxes, lies, arguments in social media, please help by correcting those matters,” said Jokowi in the national event upon appreciating Indonesia’s students at the Grand Mulya Resort in Bogor, October 10.
The President argued that the young generation must be aware of the threat posed by fake information towards the country’s unity. The former Jakarta Governor also asked students to respect any differences that they encounter in life.
In the event, President Jokowi called for the student organization leaders and members to urge their fellow class members to respect differences, especially the ones that have different political preferences.
