Anies` One-Year Office, Observer: Flagship Program Unrealized

Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is seen observing a small canal for flood drain in South Jakarta.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An urbanist from Trisakti University Yayat Supriatna considered Anies Baswedan had not created many changes in his one-year office as Jakarta Governor. Moreover, not even one of Anies’s flagship programs actualized.

Yayat presumed the hardship Anies went through to choose the head of the city’s regional working units (SKPD) ended in negative effects. “Perhaps, it is because SKPD officials are the acting head, so they face risks to make a decision,” said Yayat on Monday, October 8.

Amongst the agencies led by acting heads were Transportation Agency, Forest Agency, Education Agency, Health Agency, Bina Marga (Highways) Agency, Housing and Settlement Agency, Communication Information and Statistics Agency, and Tourism and Culture Agency.

Yayat mentioned the flagship programs of Anies that had not been realized were OK OTrip for the city’s transportation program, village revitalization through Community Action Plan (CAP), and the zero-percent down payment program. “The concept and target of zero DP program are not clear, so it has not been actualized until now,” he added.

However, Yayat appreciated Anies’s decision to lift the permits of 13 reclamation islands in Jakarta Bay. He hoped the capital city would see better changes in the second year office of Anies Baswedan considering Jakarta would have huge regional budget worth Rp84 trillion.

Anies Baswedan has served Jakarta for almost a year as the governor since inaugurated on October 16, 2017. Yayat gave the former minister of education 6 in score within the scale of 1 to 10.
