IMF-World Bank Annual Meeting

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 2018 IMF - World Bank annual meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali, will begin on Monday, October 8 to October 14. Until Wednesday, October 3, the number of registered participants has reached 32,000.

“There is a possibility to increase,” said Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs who is also the Chairman of the National Committee of the 2018 IMF - World Bank Annual Meeting Luhut Pandjaitan, Thursday, October 4.

Quoted from the official website www.am2018bali.go.id, the event is divided into three main events, namely the annual meeting, the event by the host, Indonesia, and other additional events.

1. Annual Meeting

In this meeting, an Annual Plenary Meeting will be held by a number of state officials led by IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde and World Bank President Jim Yong Kim. It will be opened by the President Joko Widodo or Jokowi.

A number of issues will be discussed, namely the economic development, global finance, poverty alleviation, and international economic development.

The next is the Development Committee meeting which will discuss the operational and technical policies of the agreement taken. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati will lead and will be followed by 25 people from finance ministers and economic ministers of a number of countries.

The last is the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) meeting. It consists of 24 components from the central bank, ministries, and the related institutions from each country. They represent 189 current members of the IMF and World Bank.

2. Host Event

This event will be filled with tourism and cultural promotions. Among them are Indonesia Food Festival, Indonesia Cultural Performance and Arts and Craft, Indonesia Pavilion, Indonesia Cultural Terrace, and the Bali Cultural Parade.

3. Additional Events

The event will hold a discussion with more specific theme such as the Indonesia CSO Summit which will discuss the digital economy, tourism industry, and public infrastructure.
