National Climbing Athletes Fall Victim to Palu, Donggala Quake

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI) is grieving upon the death of three of its member who perished in the earthquake in Palu and Donggala, Central Sulawesi, last weekend.
“Three FPTI members fell victim to the natural disaster. Two died while one is still missing,” said FPTI spokesman Teguh Supriyadi to Tempo on October 4.

Roiman, a young national-level athlete from Parigimoutong, Central Sulawesi, was found dead following the earthquake. The second is Franky Kowaas, a senior climber, North Sulawesi FPTI advisor, and active member of aero sports.
Meanwhile, one missing member is the FPTI city administrator secretary Fadhil. “He hasn’t been found following the earthquake,” said Teguh.
Furthermore, the loss of the three men is felt across Asian Games athletes. The FPTI central has dispatched a team to assist the search and rescue effort upon searching for survivors of the Palu and Donggala earthquake.
