TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi promised to find a state-owned company that could fund the Indonesian U-16 national football team or U-16 National Team.
He hopes the players can focus on improving their abilities and achieving achievements without being distracted by other things.
“I also promised to find the SOE that is willing to be a 'foster father' so that they can fully concentrate on being backed up by a budget in preparing the U-16 in the future. Whether it is for the U-19 team or at the senior team level,” said Jokowi after receiving the U-16 National Team contingent at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, October 4.
The Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrawi said the government would also provide scholarships to the players. “They are students, they do not get bonuses, they get scholarships,” he said.
According to Imam, the state-owned company that is willing to be a ‘foster father’ can use the corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund to fund the needs of U-16 national team players.
