TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) said no secret meeting took place between him and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu in New York, the United States.
“It is not a secret meeting,” JK said in his office, Jakarta, Monday, October 1.
Kalla affirmed that he had talked to Benjamin Netanyahu, but asserted it was a multilateral meeting with other countries participating the United Nations General Assembly.
“Some 190 world leaders–presidents, vice presidents, prime ministers– presented in the UN assembly. Many events take place simultaneously and so I cannot reject or hide from anyone,” JK said.
During his meeting with Benjamin, JK claimed to have curiosity on the opinion of the Israeli government regarding peace. “We talk about peace, and that is a common meeting. No personal meeting, no schedule set for it,” he underlined.
